In Recognition of Service Scholarships

Since 2010, Activated Ministries’ In Recognition of Service Scholarships have provided tuition assistance to the children of current and former missionaries. Our goal is to honor those who have served on the mission field by assisting their children in the pursuit of their education. Approximately 60 scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1500 and averaging $1000, are currently awarded each year. Applications are received and processed each Spring and Fall. Follow the link for more information about eligibility and how to apply or read the stories of those around the globe who have been awarded an IROS scholarship. "I have always been interested in teaching and working with children. I want to help them to progress and develop into good citizens who will help our future world become a better place. I know that the impact of a teacher's love and care can go a long way and that is why I am pursuing this career."

"At the moment I am leading a project for the orphan and handicapped teenagers in the Lyceum of building and social rehabilitation. Most of them don’t have good or normal families, or don’t have parents at all. They arrived here from the orphanages or shelters. My present and future studies will help me to do this job better, easier and more efficiently."

"The most satisfying accomplishment for me during my years of teaching was when a student discovered his own capacity to learn, and was empowered with the vision that there were no limits for what he could learn if he wanted to, and was given the chance. With this added tool of a teacher's degree I hope to give a chance to children that otherwise could spend their lives in misery and exploitation."

"My family and I are ecstatic and are incredibly grateful to know that I have been granted this scholarship; learning new languages and about new cultures is something I have always enjoyed. Now with this opportunity to become a translator I have been given wings to expand in my field or interest and hope to use this as a tool to help others."
