I was born to missionary parents in Manila, Philippines. Growing up, I was homeschooled and participated in different outreach and charity projects alongside my parents as they traveled around different parts of the world doing full time missionary work. I had the opportunity to learn several languages and get a broader view of life and the world around me through the different cultures, customs and peoples I got to know. This experience helped to shape my life by teaching me respect for others regardless of race or culture, adapting well to all kinds of situations, and reaching out and showing concern to people around me.

After doing missionary work in China for seven years, my husband and I moved to New York and helped with a local charity organization there and participated in several youth programs. Life today is even busier for me now that I am a mother of three. It wasn’t until after my first two kids starting going to school that I decided to adjust my career and make my dream of becoming a nurse a reality.

I am very thankful for the chance to get an education in the field of nursing. I believe that through my life’s experiences and important key values I apply on a daily basis, plus receiving the right training for the job, I can help alleviate others through their health conditions in the years to come. Through earning my nursing degree I would also like to extend my services and help local or international medical humanitarian organizations (for example: Doctors without Borders). If I can have an impact on others through helping them through their sickness, illness, pain or injuries, I know I will have done what I could to help comfort and heal my part of the world.

I am extremely thankful for all your help in awarding me this scholarship towards my studies in the field of nursing.  Through your support and the academic training I’m currently receiving, I am one step closer toward my goal of earning a nursing degree. I know that everything in my life happened for a reason and if I can have an impact on others through helping them through their sickness or pain, it’ll be an avenue where I can give back and help to comfort and heal my part of the world. As a busy mom of three and with my husband working fulltime, being a fulltime student has had its commitments on all fronts. But through your generous help, this program has made it easier for me to see my studies through, and for that, I am very grateful. Thank you so much, Activated Ministries!
