Learning to read is the most important first step in a child’s education. A child who already knows how to read upon entering grade school or even preschool/kindergarten will have a big advantage in every other field of study. Children can learn to read starting as young as two or three years of age. In fact, research has shown that the earlier they start, the easier it is.

Sight reading is based on teaching children to recognize words by memory. It can precede or be used in conjunction with a phonics-based reading program.

The Early Bird Readers introduce over 125 words. Through the course of the readers, basic vocabulary is built upon one word at a time. Each word is repeated several times throughout the booklet in which it is newly introduced, as well as in subsequent books. Once children have made their way through the booklets, they will have learned how to read many of the most commonly used words in the English language.
