Volunteers at Activated Baja have been ministering to the communities of Tiajuana, Rosarito and Ensenada, Mexico since 2008. Through school visits, book distributions, Children's Day activities, old folks homes visits, and community outreach projects, Activated Baja aims to better the lives of those around them in Baja.
Activated Ministries is a California religious non-profit dedicated to: supporting national and international programs which offer spiritual and/or humanitarian aid; producing and/or distributing educational and inspirational materials; and providing scholarships and other support to individuals and their children in recognition of their charitable service.
As of June, 2016, 284 scholarships have been awarded to qualifying individuals, for a total of $275,000. Since 2010, Activated Ministries’ In Recognition of Service Scholarships have provided tuition assistance to the children of current and former missionaries. Our goal is to honor those who have served on the mission field, for a minimum of 10 years, by assisting their children in the pursuit of their education. Individual scholarships range from $500 to $1500, averaging $1000.
Volunteers in Thailand have created an English-teaching program which they have taken to over 50 schools in the four provinces of Chiangmai, Pitsanalok, Si Saket, and Petchburi. In each of these schools they distribute Activated Ministries' sponsored Grandpa Jake storybooks as an English learning aid to over 15,000 primary school students. These books are wonderful tools to help the students improve their English as well as teach them valuable character-building lessons.
Family Care Uganda is a team of full-time, non-salaried volunteers. FCU has been registered in Uganda for 10 years and their main focus is establishing a fully self-sustained project for orphans in Gulu who were born to child soldiers during the war. They are developing a horticultural farm, building housing and a school for the children, and hope to bring alternative ideas for poverty eradication to the local communities in the area.
Family Voluntary Services of Nepal, a wonderful team of missionaries we have worked with and sponsored for over 10 years, has been in the midst of a lot of heart break and loss since the 7.8 magnitude quake rocked the impoverished Himanlayan nation on April 25th, 2015.
We have had very little word from the volunteer missionary team we work with in Nepal as internet and phone has been very hard to come by. We do know that they and the girl’s school they minister to are safe and they are doing their best to provide comfort and what assistance they can.
For 17 years, Esther McGinley has been opening her home to hundreds of orphans in Durban, South Africa during the Christmas season. In recent years, she has moved the venue and expanded the event to a three-day camp for hundreds of children. Many of the grown children now assist with the running of the camp. Activated Ministries has been proud to be a sponsor of these wonderful Christmas events.
Sponsor A Book, Africa has gone global with their mission to put books, teaching aids and character building materials into schools, churches, social centers and homes for women and children. While they still continue their work in Sierra Leon and Liberia, Africa, Sponsor a Book volunteers have hosted Sponsor a Book events in India, Croatia and Mexico.

Patricino un Libro (Sponsor a Book) is a non-profit organization based in Monterrey. Their mission is to introduce children in underprivileged, marginal, and high-risk neighborhoods to Christian and universal values through cultivating the joy of reading, and to transform their lives in the process. In the past five years, Patricino un Libro has distributed over 75,000 books to some of Mexico's poorest neighborhoods, mountain villages, hospitals, cancer centers, orphanages, and nurseries for the children of underprivileged single mothers. Values in Education is a holistic educational program developed in response to the need for moral, character and social development for preschool and primary school aged children in India. This four-part program is designed to have maximum reach by enhancing institutions and schools dedicated to the care and education of underserved children in the core subject of value education; moral, character and social development.
